Welcome to SKILLVEC

Welcome to the Skill Project

SKILLVEC is a consortium of all 33 VECs, led by the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee (CDVEC).

The Health Services Executive (HSE) went through a process of identifying the skills that it deemed necessary for its Support Staff and their Supervisors to have. They did this through the SKILL (Securing Knowledge Intra Lifelong Learning) Project. The aim of the SKILL Project is to

educate, develop and train support staff in the health services to the optimum of their abilities in order to enhance their role in the quality of service to patients/clients

The SKILLVEC project was set up to devise and deliver 2 sector-specific, FETAC-certified courses/awards to these HSE staff on a national basis.

The Further Education & Training Awards Council (FETAC) is the awarding body for all Further Education and Training in Ireland.

Award: Health Service Skills: This Level 5 programme was devised for Support Staff from a variety of different backgrounds in the HSE. It is being offered as a core of mandatory modules with a number of varying elective modules to meet specific job requirements within the service.

Award: Advanced Certificate in Supervisory Management Skills: The Supervisors Programme is at FETAC Level 6.
